Every Monday through Friday, in the evening at seven,
Mike would tune in to his game show heaven.
Remote set aside, reclined in his chair,
he called out the answers as though he was there.
He laughed out loud when a contestant was bumped
for missing a question when Mike wasn’t stumped.
“What Do You Know?”, his favorite show by far,
had him dreaming of riches, maybe winning a car.
“Go for it, Mike”, said his adoring wife,
“we’ll live like royals, with no hint of strife”.
Mike admitted for months he had felt the same,
and the time was ripe to win wealth and fame.
He sent in an application, a video too,
hoping nervously for his game show debut.
After two more weeks of watching the show,
the reply that came gave him reason to crow.
Invited to New York for dry run testing,
Mike leaped for joy, the idea arresting.
With utmost confidence he boarded the plane,
soon the whole country would speak his name.
